in degeneration
The maxim of secularists, human
rightists, unionists and feminists that Christians have no business in the
affairs of the nation, has been carried into effect with deadly efficiency.
Their simultaneous assault on our educational system, our judiciary, our
morality, our political institutions, our traditional values and the Christian
faith, has produced and witnessed the result of such relentless attack: the
gradual disintegration of our Judeo-Christian values upon which Canada was founded.
We have witnessed the sexualization of our school curricula, the Liberal
achievement of no-fault divorce, abortion on demand, the loss of freedom of
religion, freedom of speech and freedom of association, particularly in our
universities and our human-rightist regulated and controlled environment, the
creation of special rights and privileges for various special-interest groups
resulting in a two-tiered Canada, one law for members of such special interest
groups and another law for members of the silent majority. It is a pattern that
has become tragically prevalent on university campuses: From the cancellation
of a speech by Ann Coulter at the University of Ottawa in March this year, to
the riot by activist Muslims at the Concordia University in 2002, to
cancellation by York University of an event in support of Canadian Values for
fear of leftist and Muslim violence, termination of functions on a number of campuses
of conservative American speakers, and the display of violence and threats against
pro-life booths. Canadian campuses including both professors and activist
students have become the most intolerant of all microcosms of our communities
across this land. The elitist human rightists have become the dominant assassins
of our Constitutional rights and the principal grantors of special rights to
members of special interest groups, while denying the silent majority basic
rights such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, due process, and equality
before and under the law. We have provincial and federal tribunals/commissions
with a total budget of about $200-million, the function of which is to act as
Spanish inquisition tribunals or commonly known as the “kangaroo courts”. The
accused have no right to due process or legal aid or evidential protection,
while the complainants have all those rights and more. The historical human
right is to protect individuals from the state. With the “kangaroo court”, the
state with its power and unlimited resources is interfering in the conduct,
speech, mind and emotions of the individuals, no matter how trivial the
complaints are. A telling case is the
complaint of a lesbian customer of a comedy club in BC who invokes the wrath of
the BC “Human Rights” commission against a comedian and the club owner, alleging
that she was offended by the comedian’s joke about lesbians. However, the
comedian countered that the joke was in response to obnoxious heckling from the
complainant and her comrades. The triviality of this case does make one think
twice about the arrival of Orwell’s “1984” in Canada. What about the owner of a
fitness club in St. Catharine, Ontario
who was taken before the Ontario
“kangaroo court” by a prospective member who claimed the right to use the
club’s women’s locker room before “gender reassignment” surgery? The utter
absence of common sense in this complaint is to say the least, distressing. The
case was later dropped. There was no apology, no compensation, no redress and no
sense of fairness in the total deprivation of traditional Canadian values. The
running amok of special interest groups’ regulatory and authoritarian despotism
is painfully and devastatingly evident in Ontario. What happened to the human rights,
property rights and Charter rights of the citizens in Caledonia,
Ontario, who have endured years of unlawful
blockade and siege, indignity and loss of legal and Constitutional rights
arising from the local aboriginal gangs, while being shamelessly abandoned by
the Ontario
government? No wonder that some of us are wondering whether we are living in a
quasi-Marxist mist where the “elites” govern and the rest of us are subjugated
untouchables. The silent majority have watched Canada acquiesce to the
dictatorial high-handedness of unionists, aboriginals, feminists and political
correctists, Canada’s appeasement of vocal special interest groups, including polygamists,
drug addicts and various abnormal sexual practitioners, propel our country into
a rudderless society the direction of which depends on the commands of these
anything-goes special interest groups. On their agenda are the legalization of
euthanasia, abortion at any time with government assistance, teaching of
relativism, sexualization of education, soft on crime and drugs, unsustainable
health care, “safe injection” sites, new reproductive technologies, all
abnormal and unnatural sexual practices, environmentalism, severe restriction
of Christians from the public square, unrestricted immigration, unlimited
multiculturalism and religionalization and promotion of secularism, humanism
and atheism. These special interest groups consider that the biggest obstacle
to achieving their goals is Christianity. Their first step to implement their
agenda is to exclude Christians from having a voice by expounding the specious
doctrine of “separation of church and state” knowing full well that there is no
such thing as “separation of church and state” here in Canada. Even in
the United States,
it only means that the State cannot establish a state religion. The basic
principles of democracy in the Western world are liberty and equality.
Therefore, giving privilege to some groups of citizens or to one religion is
inconsistent with those principles. There must be freedom of religion not
freedom from religion. It has been argued that politicians must act in
accordance with the wishes of their constituents. This is only partly true. A
politician with conscience and principles would try his/her utmost to lead the
voters along a principled path. In the event, the path chosen by the voters
becomes inconsistent with a politician’s principle; the correct approach is to
resign rather than acting as a soulless-mouthpiece-robot of the voters. Apart from
being inflicted with schizophrenia, it would be extremely difficult if not impossible
for a politician to split his id (the bad side of his personality) or ego (his
independent mind so to speak) from his superego (the good influence). In other
words, a personality is a personality with both the good and the bad sides
intermingled and merged into one. If a politician with a healthy mind is a
genuine Christian, he or she will not or should not or ought not to believe in
one thing and at the same time act contrary to his/her faith (e.g. vote for
“same-sex marriage”). To do so is nothing more than hypocritical. As a matter
of fact, the morality of religion plays an important part in the public square
as well as in all human endeavours, because it helps to enable the
social-ethical-values issues being driven into a moral focus without which the
moral fabric of our country will eventually and completely collapse and
disintegrate similar to the Roman Empire.
Further examples of Canada-in-degeneration abound: in 1985 Air India bombing
case which cost hundreds of passengers’ lives because of RCMP and CSIS’ ridiculous
failure to prevent such tragedy which could have been prevented, the Dziekanski
case exposed lies of RCMP officers in their attempts to conceal the truth which
has earned RCMP the name of a police force in denial, Gordon Compbell’s Liberal
government in B.C. has achieved the notoriety of being an incorrigible liar in
(among other things) the enactment of HST. (B.C. Independent MLA Vicky
Huntington poignantly said, about HST, “Scariest of all, it was built on
economic pixie dust – the vague, long-term promise of trickle-down prosperity.
Eventually our happy and prosperous industries will gleefully share their
future largesse with consumer. Well, as the old saying goes, rub a lamp.”), and
the BC Campbell
government’s reckless expansion of gambling through lies and deceit. It is a
disturbing and pathetic spectacle of a politician hoist with his own petard,
and not to be outdone, BC’s Children and Family Development under Minister Mary Polak has exhibited countless lawlessness,
scandals, bungling and floundering in causing tragedy to the Baynes (interested
readers could access materials on the Baynes on our website). Over 70% of B.C.
residents oppose the HST but at the same time, they still remember vividly the
“Ten Year Disaster” under the previous NDP government. So BC residents have to
steer their ship through the sludge between the Scylla of Pinocchio (the
legendary liar) and the Charybdis of disaster. How sad. What it takes to rescue
Canada is the regeneration of traditional values: moral fibre, ethics, faith,
fairness, integrity, freedom of speech, religion and association, judicial
decency and intolerance of crime and drugs, the concept of small government,
low taxes and as little state interference as possible. We desperately need
genuine conservative majority governments, both federally and provincially if Canada is to be
salvaged. As President Ronald Reagan famously said, “Freedom is never more than
one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the
bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the
same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our
children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”
Substitute Canada for United States,
the above quote becomes profoundly relevant and soul-searching.
